Wat Phnom

Tom Beeke, Jeremiah Apol, and Darryl at Wat Phnom. Wat Phnom is a large Buddhist temple on the outskirts of the city. At night people turn off their car or moto lights when they drive around the wat. They do this to "prevent the spirits from following them." There are many beggars that live on the grounds near the wat. Quite a few monkeys live here too....not too friendly as Darryl quickly found out!

This is at the top of the wat, many people come here to offer to their ancestors and to Buddha. Their beliefs are a mixture of Buddhism and Annimism. You can see two women praying and making their offerings.

This vendor is selling lotus leaves. The locals consider it a real treat.
