Holding Our Breath

We are still here contrary to what the blog might suggest. Our days and nights since coming home from the hospital have been up, down, and all around. They all kind of roll into one blur...last night I found myself in the kitchen at two am eating donuts and reading the Banner of SGT while Calvin screamed away in the bedroom. (I don't recommend this for any sort of weight loss plan, ha!).

He is still having some times of screaming where there is nothing we can do to alleviate it.  BUT, we are so thankful, no...SOOOOO thankful that the surgery seems to have taken away a very large portion of his pain. We actually have moments where he can be out of my arms and sitting on his own in certain positions. Hello, LIFE!

The feeding tube is a breeze however, getting him to eat on his own is not. I've been persistent with trying to get food into the sweetie through the bottle or spoon. It hasn't been very successful. But we will persist on. Our big concern is that the stomach wrap may come undone and we will be back at square one. This happens in about 10% of cases. We have been hearing a bit of noise and urping in the airway so we are a little apprehensive. Quite honestly, we don't know if he could survive another surgery. But this too is in the Lord's hands.

We are off to an endocrine appointment this morning (I know, I know, you wish you could come too....maybe next time). Oh, one more exciting thing...we are moving! To a rental home and no, I am not weeping about cleaning it. Exhaustion does funny things to ya. But maybe it has something to do with the sisters and friends and family who want to help. They are saving graces.

Thanks for the update Kara. Have been thinking of you guys often. Will pray the move goes well, and that Calvin's good times become longer and longer. Love you all! Karen

I'm so happy to read the good news of his pain relief; we'll keep praying about the surgery results. And I'm thrilled for you about moving! If you need help at all, setting up "shop," you know me...let me know!

Kara, I say this with all sincerity: if I could be there, I would show up to the cleaning party!!! I wish I could help you. Just know that you and Calvin and your family remain in my prayers. Blessings on you, dear one.
