1. Sometimes I forget how differently my kids are growing up from the way I did. Last week I took the kids to an big area of green grass with palm trees, just a skip away from the apartment we are staying in. Sophie and Noah had a great time kicking a ball around and racing at top speed. Evie, on the other hand, had never walked barefoot on grass and would not budge off of my lap, completely bewildered at the green poky stuff. After a few visits she's now racing right alongside the other kids.
2. Noah is completely impressed by the public playgrounds available in Bangkok and is constantly making remarks about the "beautiful playgrounds."
3. When you are 9 months pregnant you develop a sort of immunity to people's remarks, it's either laugh or cry! Sophie was looking quizzically at me and said, "Mom, I forget what you looked like when you were skinny." Then after saying hello to a stranger on the elevator, he responded after an awkward pause, "Looks like you're putting on weight!" Made me burst out laughing.
4. The kindess of our church family, friends, and teammates has been a such a blessing to our family. We're especially grateful to Christina, our MTW teammate from Cambodia, for helping us out here in Bangkok and staying with us. It's also been humbling to feel the care from the Mills family, MTW missionaries in Bangkok, who have been so kind. Rhianna watched our kids all day (in addition to hers!) while Christina and I spent a long day at the doctor's office. When we arrived at her house in a taxi to pick up the kids she handed me a bag with soup, fresh corn bread and cookies. So kind to someone she hardly knows!
5. Hearing the cry of our baby was a big reason to smile. Last night Darryl came up to the hospital, it was nice to have some time together with our little boy. We snuggled him up close and thanked God for his precious life.
